A political rant and 26 gas savings tips

I am a cspan junkie when I'm not working on the websites or following my favorite sports team. The good thing about our government in action is that if you miss a speech just wait for the next politician from the same party,it will be the same speech. Energy is the topic of the day and has been most of the year. Congress actually raised the cafe requirements to take place many years in the future. Unfortunately the gas and heating oil prices are now choking our economy and way of life now. Here are some things we can do to save gas and at this point a lot of money.

If you are willing to spend a little money making alterations to your vehicle, I have spent a number of hours researchingwater to gas a system that gives you between 20% and 50%  better gas mileage. It really isn't new, heavy trucks have used it in the past. It couldn't be used on todays car that are fuel injected because the computer read the amount of oxygen in the emissions,if it was too high it shut the car down. There is now a fix for this that was needed because the byproduct added to the emission is oxygen, and the planet has been loosing oxygen for years especially in large urban areas. I even found an E Bookon how to build this and also how to make biodiesel ,that if made right could be used for heating oil.
If your not sure these fuel prices will remain, and an investment would mean money thrown away,or you want to save even more then here are a group of things you can do to make your gas go further.
1. Make sure your tires are inflated to factory specifications The estimate is that as a nation we could save in 1 year the same amount of oil that we could get totally from ANWR. Over 100 million barrels
2 Avoid Warming the engine for too long, even on cold mornings, 30 to 40 seconds is enough.
3. Make sure your automatic choke is releasing, after the engine warms up. The chock can get stuck resulting in a bad gas to air mixture. A little carburetor cleaner, every once in a while, will save gas and help prevent a costly repair.
4. Accelerate slowly when starting from dead stop. Don't push pedal down more than 1/4 of the total foot travel. This allows carburetor to function at peak efficiency.
5.Don't rev the engine, especially just before you switch the engine off; this wastes fuel needlessly and washes oil down from the inside cylinder walls, owing to loss of oil pressure.
6.Don't start and stop your car for no reason. Each time you start your car it is equal in fuel usage to approximately the same as one minute idling.
7. Try different gasolines . Your vehicle could give you more gas mileage from one more than another. Even if it were a nickel more you would save money.
8. Watch as you are driving for the gas stations with bargains but don't go out of your way to buy there you'll use up your savings
9 Don't be fooled by vortex schemes, Air foils usually placed or connected to your air intake they could confuse your computer and actually make you use more gas.
10. Don't fill to the brim most of that extra gas is lost and just increases your costs.
11. Buy your gasoline during the coolest part of the day , the gas is denser, more energy at the same volume.
12. When traveling at high speeds keep your windows up you can lower your gas mileage by up to 10%.
13. Use your air conditioner as little as possible at low speeds and use it at high speeds because it will use less gas than the wind drag will cause the car or truck to consume.
14. While being stopped in traffic shift to neutral so the engine is working the least.15.Make sure your air filter is clean to allow the correct air flow to the engine And less gas waste.
16. Keep your vehicle tuned up. Correct timing and good firingspark plugs will save both your engine and fuel
17. Are your tires worn or do you still have winter tread on the vehicle if so the new tires will pay for themselves.
18. Is your vehicle in line if not your actually driving extra miles and also creating extra wind resistance.
19. Plan your trips so that you do the least amount of miles unless there is an alternate route with less traffic, hills, stop and go driving. In that case a steady speed will save you fuel. You may have to record your usage both ways.
20. With gas at 4 to 5 dollars a gallon it may pay to have things delivered you can even do your grocery shopping from home .
21. Reduce the weight in the vehicle. Take everything out of the trunk, except the spare tire, and disburse the weight in the car evenly when carrying passengers.
22. Speed not only kills people it kills the poketbook, wind resistance greatly increases over 40 mph.
23. Think ahead. Keeping a constant speed and lower rpms will save gas speed up just before approaching a hill so you don't need to push that pedal down as far to climb it.
24. Rough roads, dirt roads and gravel roads and driveways use up more fuel than smooth roads.
25. Put you car in neutral when sitting and idling. This will allow the transmission to cool and be more efficient.
26. Car pooling and public transportation can put extra money in your pocket.
27. You can make the car more aerodynamic by removing vinyl tops, keeping the sun roof closed, making sure it is free of mud or ice balls,.
28. Use graphite oil for better lubrication.

How does all of this fit in with how I started this page? Senator Obama gave a speech, which Senator McCain with his knowledge of politics, and lack of intestinal fortitude, that he is given credit for just because he was dumb enough to be captured, pandered. Only a man with a lack of what is needed to fix our economy and a defense strategy formed in a concentration camp (bravery maybe foreign relations and strategy?) wouldn't understand that Obama was saying the nonpolitical but right thing. Lest we forget Obama is pledging a $1000 tax deduction (that will really help all those short formers) and 150 billion on new forms of energy over 10 years. Why not 150 billion next year so in ten years we can be the middle east of the world selling cheap power? So the answers are clear but no one still wants to upset Exxon.
